So we set out with our trip all planned out. The only stop we were going to make on our way there was at Hope where we couldn't wait to sink our teeth into the buffet at the New Golden Star Restaurant which featured chinese food. We had gone there twice and found their wontons, fried chicken, vegetables, noodles etc.. very mouthwatering. Imagine to our dismay, it was not there. It has transformed into a Korean/Japanese all your can eat restaurant. What a letdown!!! No more stopping at Hope, nothing to look forward to there :( Here are some pictures we took on our way to Lumby. I found the scenery interesting as it showed the changing colours of autumn.
Reaching there, we chose campsite #5 and decided it was not a bad spot coz there were not many campers there, just three rvs and the campers in campsite #20. The campground usually closes in mid September but the people holding on there were waiting for their homes to be finished and had nowhere else to go. Brrr....it was cold at night, starting from about 4 pm to about 12pm the next day with the warm rays of the sun in between. We felt like we had frozen feet at night. I had had it on the third night and decided to do some changes to our bedding arrangement and voila! we had a good night's sleep on the last night. We had a great time cooking and BBQ-ing. This time Anderson took my advice and we bought a grill rack from Canadian Tire in Vernon. We had also not brought much stuff from home, only chicken marinated tandoori. Anderson also had his fill of the campfire :) That's him, looking like a vampire in his hood, pale face and red lips :P and the other is me.
We enjoyed going to the dollar store there as it had a variety of things and even stuff we couldn't find back home. We dropped by "Heritage Country Kitchen and Mercantile" twice, both times for breakfast. The food was great and it was warm and cosy in there, exuded by the couple running it and the fireplace :) On our way out the last day, we bought 5 loaves of bread of different assortment for a really good price. We still have them frozen, taking out slices to eat when we want them. |
