On 30th August 2006 at 12 pm at the Surrey City Hall Gardens, Anderson and I said our vows and exchanged rings in front of a marriage commissioner.
I guess you can say we got tired of waiting for the 'appropriate' day and decided to get a marriage commissioner and opt for a simple and painless ceremony. Anderson just got online and found a marriage commissioner. I asked him how the selection was done. His formula was based on location, accessibility for the two selected witnesses and whether there was a smile on the face.
We met up with Heather, Earl and Gabrielle at Java Hutt at 10 am that morning and was surprised to find that Gabrielle had brought some goodies. Adam, one of Anderson's entertainer friends, had made the balloon veil I am wearing in the picture and send along floating large sized bride and bridegroom bears plus a huge heartshaped balloon which when tapped sings "You are one that I want" from the movie 'Grease'.
From there we (minus Earl who joined us later) adjourned to the gardens where we met up with the marriage commissioner also named Heather. Heather (the other Heather) and Gabrielle were our witnesses and ring bearers. Anderson and I forgot about a bridal bouquet but luckily, Heather had made a bouquet of red roses made from balloons, plastic flowers and real white roses from her garden! The video recorder was Gabrielle's daughter. It was over before we knew it and yep, it was painless :)
