MY TAKE ON AMERICAN IDOL
TOP 8 We watched American Idol Season 7 where it was elimination time. I am really surprised how fast people update their websites. One good example is when the last of the bottom three were named, I saw the same picture of the three online on Rickey.org maybe in a span of 2 minutes or less. How fast is that! I don't really have a strong favourite to win in AI but I certainly have a strong dislike for David Cook and from the very beginning of the show. I just think he has an attitude, not a very likeable one at that. He was rude to Simon but later learned some humility, sang songs with arrangement from other singers without giving them credit from the very beginning which actually made people believe he was IT! That was when he soared to first place among the fans. Well, American Idol is a show to select the American people's idol, their choice whether they be the best singer, best-dressed, best looking or even the one with the best hair-do (just had to add that :P). Of course they would want one who, regardless of fame, would remember the people who chose them and be grateful instead of being a snob, stuck up and not take the time out to give an autograph or two or even a photograph. So who do I think has the best character? Well, Michael Johns comes across as a very likeable, simple and no frills guy. He has a good voice and seems very sincere. I believe he sends out good vibs. I actually like Brooke White, her voice and her style of singing but she may not be versatile enough to sing different types of songs. It was quite a shock to find her in the bottom three as I had expected Jason Castro there instead. I didn't quite take to Jason Castro as I had trouble trying to understand what he was singing. Most often, I thought he slurred his words, it was as if he was trying to sing or talk while smiling widely. Also, the songs he chose to sing seemed to be of a similar vein. I suppose his time will come later. David Arculeta has a good voice and a huge fan base, I guess, most of them in their teens. His voice seems to be more suited with songs of a slower tempo, emotional and heartfelt songs which shows off the purity of his voice. A teenager with a strong and mature voice. Carly Smithson may have a chance but somehow the American public is just not rooting for her. Bad press? And what about Kristy Lee Cook and Syesha Mercado? Well, I think they are just okay, nothing outstanding. |
