On to the my experience during the Wilton Cake Decorating Course 1. Our second class required us to bring a cake with icing done. I planned to bake the cake the day before class and ice it before going for class, which was what I did. Boy, icing a cake for the first time was horrifying, I almost cried and almost decided to do away with it and start a new one. Here is how it looked with icing done:
That's the only picture I took of it. After I had decorated it in class, it came back and was cut up to be eaten before we could even think of taking another picture of it. Anyway, I shouldn't have been too worried as I discovered all the students had their horror stories when trying to ice their cakes for the first time. Mine was pretty good though :P For our graduation class, this was how my cake looked like:
Yep, thats the Wilton rose (one of the three was done by my instructor). My husband actually bought blueberry pie filling to put between the layers and the cake as a whole tasted pretty good. Anyway I was just so darn glad the course was over :D My husband was pretty proud of me and asked me if I wanted to continue on to the second course which was on royal icing. Well, why not? |
