More on Cake Decorating

I am currently doing Course 2 of the Wilton Cake Decorating Course and will probably go on to the third one.

During lesson 2 of Course 2, we learned to make follows using Royal Icing. Here are some samples:

The violet was difficult for me to grasp at first. I was so totally frustrated trying to pipe it that I really felt that I had no skill let alone any talent in doing this and that I was completely out of my mind to actually sign up for this course. The next day, I did some research on it and practiced for a while (an hour or two) before I finally got it. Phew!

The apple blossom was easier compared to the apple blossom but because it was small, it was still a challenge. The chrysanthemum was no easy chore and until now, I still cannot do a really nice one. My petals kept breaking off or looking really weird.

We also learned to pipe a bird using Royal Icing Colour Flow. With the extras, I coloured them red and piped blobs of circles to use as ladybirds when I needed them as decor for cupcakes. Oh yeah, speaking of cupcakes, below is a picture of cupcakes I baked and frosted. It was just nice because I lessened the amount of sugar in the cupcakes to balance out the sweet frosting.
