More fondant animals

I checked out more animal shapes and fondant this really cute sugar paste dog made by Aine2 in Cake Central. It was the little tongue sticking out that made me feel that I had to make it. Making the body and head was the usual way but I had a bit of a problem with the ears but they managed to stay up. The tail was stuck on instead of how Aine2 did (made a little hole and stuck it in, only realised it later on when I saw a video of how she made a sugar paste dog on Youtube). Finally, it was down to the tongue and I made a few attempts to get it in the right shape and look. At one point, it looked like the tongue wouldn't stay in but I managed to get it in. And here it is, the little fondant dog.

Next, I wanted to do something of my own. I looked through the internet for a really cute animal and I came across the cartoon image of a baby dragon. That was it! The concept of making it is pretty much the same as the dog. The difference would be the front (or underside) of the body is a different colour. I stuck on another brown piece to the body and made lines across it. For the head, I shaped the nose into two long nostrils and opened up the mouth like an alligator's. Wasn't too sure about the webbed thingies at the side of head (ears or horns???) so they turned out that way. At first they were kind of stuck out at right angles to the head but slowly they drooped down (should have put something there to support them). Then after that, I showed it proudly to my husband and placed it on his desk with the dog and little fondant girl. Hmmm ... should I put on some claws? My husband said it would be nice if there were some. So back to the table with it again. I rolled some white pointy paste out and stuck them onto the feet. Voila! Here is my fondant dragon with his pointy claws.

Lastly, I made a little fondant elephant following Aine2's video. After making the above, the elephant was a breeze.
