Gum Paste Bugs Bunny Part 2

I hate the ears. I worked through 3 pairs and still I could not get a nice pair with pink gum paste in them. I then decided to do away with the pink part and just leave the ears as they are. I let them dry a bit before sticking it onto the head.

I was looking through some books I had borrowed from the library and decided to try out a pastillage recipe that an author used for characters. It required making royal icing first then adding in other ingredients including gum tragacanth, tylose or cmc. I had some left over royal icing sitting in the refrigerator and just added gum tex in. I let it sit for a day and then tested out a small portion. It was nice and sort of spongy and rubbery feel. I used that portion to do the hands. It felt good. They dried pretty well too.

Next came the carrot in one of his hands. It turned out well too! Below is a front view of gum paste bunny with a carrot in his hand.
